When the baby boom hit in the Fifties, my little brother’s scout pack all lived on our block. It was easy learning to bake-I didn’t have to worry about making mistakes. Anything with sugar in it disappeared as fast as I could shovel it off a cookie sheet and across the kitchen counter. They’d run it off and turn up again when the bread came out of the oven an hour later.-30-
