Classroom Materials

One of the occupational hazards of teaching are the bank boxes full of Stuff destined to enrich the Teachable Moment that live in the back seat of the car. The frame of mind carries over into civilian life. The urge to share information is a noble one that quickly generates piles of printed material destined for friends and relations.

Cut it out, literally, by photographing an article and Emailing it the minute you realize it’s worth sharing. Digital images of the printed page have reduced my paper files to a mere inch and a half. It took a couple of months’ wrestling with backlog to do that. I gained a cleanable house, healthy interior air, numerous cubic feet of storage space, and an immediately accessible and deliverable archive. It’s a win-win all around.

Think scanner, shredder, and, possibly, temporary clerical assistance.
