Do not underestimate the value of rubbing alcohol in the household kit. Use it to disinfect and degrease.

The mid-sized spray bottles sold in a drugstore have mechanisms that attach neatly to the small bottles of alcohol carried by my supermarket. With a sprayer in place, I can sanitize the sink area and fixtures in seconds.

The same device enables efficient application of hydrogen peroxide to garden greens. I follow peroxide with a spray of white vinegar and then rinse. The row of sprayers lives on the window sill over the sink in an enameled cache-pot that looks like a miniature stock tank. Dish soap rounds out the collection.

With cleaning products front and center, it's trivial to keep the critical food prep areas in top condition.
